What’s the weirdest movie you’ve ever watched?pppp
Some movies entertain us, some make us cry, and some leave us staring at the screen wondering whether we watched a film or accidentally enrolled in a postgraduate course in confusion!
For me, one such movie is the Kannada psychological thriller Lucia. I wouldn’t call it weird, exactly. Weird would be a man talking to a refrigerator or a cat running for prime minister. Lucia is something else altogether. It is the kind of movie that makes you question whether you understood the story, whether the story understood itself, or whether your brain simply went out for a coffee break halfway through.
The film plays with dreams, reality, and the mysterious little theatre inside our minds. Just when you think you have figured things out, another scene arrives, rearranges your thoughts, and leaves you wondering whether you should rewind the movie or rewind your entire life.
“Some movies give you answers; others hand you a puzzle and quietly hide the picture on the box.”
That is what makes Lucia fascinating to me. It doesn’t spoon-feed its audience. It expects us to pay attention, connect the dots, and occasionally forgive ourselves for missing a few. Watching it feels like trying to solve a crossword puzzle while someone keeps changing the clues.
And honestly, isn’t that a little like life? We often believe we understand what is happening, only to discover that reality has several unexpected plot twists. Sometimes, we are so busy trying to make sense of everything that we forget to enjoy the mystery.
Perhaps the beauty of Lucia lies not in understanding every single detail but in the questions it leaves behind. After all, not every story needs to fit neatly into a box labelled Everything Makes Sense.
Would I call it a weird movie? Not really. I would call it a wonderfully confusing reminder that cinema can challenge our minds rather than simply entertain them.
Although, if I watch it again, I might keep a notebook nearby. You know, just in case my brain files a formal complaint!
Thought to ponder
What if the movies that confuse us the most are sometimes the ones that make us think long after the screen goes dark?
