There’s a storm in her brain, a circus on loop,
Ideas cartwheel, and thoughts — somersault in a group!
She hums when she studies, she dances when still,
Her “focus” is a traveler, roaming at will.
“Sit straight!” I plead, “Just finish your sum!”
She nods… then forgets why her fingers went numb.
A pencil’s a rocket, a book’s now a cave,
Her eraser’s a hero — oh, the things she’ll save!
She feels every sound, every sparkle of light,
Every small whisper is a firework in sight.
While my brain says “One thing,” hers shouts, “Do ten!”
Then loops back to one… and starts over again.
There are mornings of socks that don’t wish to pair,
Homework that vanished (was it even there?).
The cereal’s spilled, but the giggle that follows
Melts the chaos that every dawn swallows.
And yes, I get tired — my patience goes thin,
Between “Brush your teeth!” and “Don’t draw on your chin!”
But then she’ll hug me mid-jump on the floor,
And whisper, “You’re magic, Mom — not a bore!”
So I breathe, I laugh, I let go of the plan,
Because perfection’s a myth — not for this clan.
She teaches me daily — though lessons seem wild —
That life’s not a checklist… it’s dancing with your child.
💭 Thought to Ponder:
“Maybe ADHD isn’t a disorder of attention —
it’s an abundance of it, poured in too many directions.”
So next time your child’s mind zooms like a rocket,
Don’t chase it — climb in and ride in her pocket.
