A Tear of Joy

What brings a tear of joy to your eye?

It isn’t diamonds, glitter, or gold,
Not trophies polished, nor titles bold.
It’s smaller things, almost absurd,
That crack my heart wide with a single word.

Like my child saying, “Look, I did it alone!”
Or hearing a laugh that sounds like home.
When chaos pauses, just for a while,
And silence wears a crooked smile.

It’s burnt toast flipped into “modern art,”
A clumsy hug that mends the heart.
A puppy’s eyes, a grandma’s tale,
A paper boat that dares to sail.

It’s that “Yes, I can” after “I’ll never try,”
The first rainbow after a stormy sky.
Moments so simple, yet strangely profound,
They water my eyes without making a sound.

And isn’t it funny, how joy sometimes sneaks,
Through messy kitchens and muddy cheeks?
A reminder that life, with all its noise,
Sprinkles tears of sorrow… but more tears of joys.
