What’s the story behind your nickname?
Not all nicknames are born in dramatic stories or childhood disasters involving chocolate cake and the living room sofa. Some just… happen. Like mine—Sharu. No fireworks, no mystery, just a snug short form of my name. Simple? Yes. But boring? Not at all.
You see, nicknames are like inside jokes with the world—not everyone gets them, but those who do, smile a little wider. “Sharu” might not have emerged from a dramatic tale of mistaken identity or heroic schoolyard fame, but it has become me in the way that only a name, gently worn in over time, can.
“A nickname is the hug your name receives from the people who truly know you.” – Unknown
Friends use it when they’re teasing. Family says it with warmth. And my kids? Well, they’ve twisted it further into things I dare not publish—proof that love often comes wearing silly hats.
Some might say, “Where’s the spice?” But maybe, not all flavors need drama. Some are sweet like home-cooked dal—ordinary on paper, but rich with comfort. Sharu isn’t a name shouted in stadiums or etched in history books. But it’s whispered in late-night laughs, texted with emojis, and scribbled on birthday cards with hearts.
As Shakespeare said, “What’s in a name?” In my case, not much story—but a whole lot of soul.
Thought to ponder:
Is it the story that makes the name, or the person who makes the story worth telling—even when there isn’t one?

I think names have meaning and you should look into that.

Yes, every name carries a meaning and a story behind it. As for my nickname—Sharu—it’s a simple word, but to me, it’s wrapped in love. It’s more than just a name; it’s a feeling, a bond, a part of who I am.
