Romantic? It’s Not Just Roses and Rainbows

What’s your definition of romantic?

Romantic — now that’s a word that’s been boxed into candlelit dinners, violin music, and sappy cards with glitter that never leaves your fingers. But here’s my definition: Romantic is when he remembers your chai has to boil exactly three times. Romantic is when she pretends not to see your growing bald patch and still calls you her hero.

It’s not about how many petals are on the bed, but how many plates are in the sink — and who volunteers to wash them without a sigh.

“Romance isn’t in the grand gestures. It’s in the mini-moments that whisper, ‘I choose you… again and again.’”

It’s when your partner finishes your sentence, not because it’s cute, but because you forgot what you were saying halfway. It’s when you fight about what movie to watch but end up watching your kids sleep instead. It’s remembering anniversaries… or at least remembering to pretend like you remembered.

“Romantic is finding magic in the mundane.”

It’s not in a Paris proposal. It’s in watching the same TV show together night after night and still laughing at the same jokes. It’s in arguing, forgiving, and still saving the last bite of dessert for them.

Romance isn’t perfect. It’s personal. It’s messy, funny, flawed, and beautifully real.

Thought to Ponder:
What if the most romantic thing you could do today… was simply to listen — without looking at your phone?
