Suitcase Dreams, Piggy Bank Screams

What countries do you want to visit?

What countries do I want to visit? Honestly, all of them. If Vitamin M – M for Money, not Mangoes – ever decides to flow freely into my account, you might just see me at every airport gift shop, buying magnets I don’t need and smiling in languages I barely speak.

But let’s start at home. India – my own chaotic, colorful, curry-scented country – is a treasure chest I’ve barely opened. There are ancient forts whispering stories, beaches waiting with sunsets, and mountains holding their breath for me. As someone once said, “Don’t go abroad until you’ve looked under your own doormat.”

Then, I’d hop over to Paris. Not just for the Eiffel Tower, but for the chance to mispronounce “croissant” with confidence. Next, Switzerland – where even the cows look like they’ve been through a spa retreat. Then Vietnam, to slurp noodles on the street and dodge scooters with grace. Maldives and Mauritius? Because saltwater is cheaper than therapy, unless you’re staying at a water villa – then it’s just therapy for your wallet.

“Travel far enough, you meet yourself,” said David Mitchell. I think I’ll meet a version of myself who finally packs light and doesn’t need an hour to choose between two identical black tops.

Yes, the dream is global. But until Vitamin M shows up like a fairy godmother with a boarding pass, I’ll be pinning destinations on my vision board and practicing my airport walk in the living room.

Thought to Ponder:
The world is wide, the heart is wild, and the wallet… well, it’s currently on a diet. But dreams don’t charge interest, so why not travel first in your mind—and let your feet follow someday?

  1. Paris is awful. I was so terribly disappointed. My daughter wanted to go her whole life. Plan a big trip for her graduation. The people of France were the most unwelcome people I have ever encountered. Go to Ireland instead. The people in Ireland make you feel welcome and wonderful. I will spend my money where I feel good.
