Describe one simple thing you do that brings joy to your life.
In the grand theatre of life, where chaos plays the lead and to-do lists demand encores, I have discovered a blissful escape—the humble nap. Not the accidental snooze on the couch with drool as a souvenir, but the intentional, dignified, I-set-an-alarm nap.
It’s the adult version of a snack break for the soul.
“A nap is like a reset button for the brain—with less guilt than ice cream and fewer carbs than cookies.” – Me, post-nap and proud.
There’s a sacred ritual to it: the slow stretch, the cozy blanket burrito, that one pillow that understands your soul. Then comes the slow descent into what I call “thoughtless bliss” — a place where deadlines disappear and the only ‘reminder’ is the soft hum of the fan.
I’ve often wondered if naps were a silent protest against adulthood. You know, like saying, “I reject this madness. I choose peace. Wake me up when someone invents self-folding laundry.”
Even my kids know the sanctity of my nap time. They tiptoe around like little ninjas, whispering, “Don’t wake the dragon.” (I don’t blame them—I have roared over interrupted naps before.)
Mark Twain once said, “Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow just as well.” That, my friends, is nap philosophy in disguise.
Some chase joy in travel, shopping, or five-star dinners. I find mine in 20 minutes of stillness, sandwiched between chaos. It’s cheap, effective, and legal in all countries.
Thought to ponder:
What if happiness isn’t always in chasing dreams, but sometimes in simply lying still with your eyes closed—recharging not just your body, but your spirit too?
Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s nap o’clock somewhere.

“that one pillow that understands your soul” ahh… yes… I’m still developing nap skills, but I find I love them on the rare occasions I manage to sneak one in. Lovely post, with delightful humour!
