Steaming Coffee, Sleeping Ambitions

How do you feel about cold weather?

“Cold weather is like that ex—you miss it, love it, but when it shows up, you just want to stay under the blanket and ghost everyone.”

I adore cold weather. The way it paints rooftops with mist, the silence it brings in the early morning air, the cozy cuddles with coffee—it’s magical. But here’s the problem: my productivity? Frozen. Just like my toes.

Every winter, my alarm clock becomes a suggestion rather than an obligation. My brain whispers, “Work can wait, but this blanket? This is eternal love.” And suddenly, brushing teeth feels like climbing Everest barefoot.

They say, “Winter is the season of recovery and preparation.” I say it’s the season of excuses and procrastination. Why get out of bed when the world outside feels like the freezer section of a supermarket? Even my fridge starts to feel warm in comparison.

I romanticize winter all year round—hot chocolate, foggy windows, wool socks—but forget the part where my fingers type like frozen fish sticks. “The cold never bothered me anyway,” said Elsa. Clearly, she didn’t have office work or three kids asking for hot water every ten minutes.

Still, I love it. Cold weather makes us slow down, cherish warmth, and appreciate the beauty of stillness.

Thought to ponder:
Maybe the laziness we feel during cold weather isn’t laziness at all. Maybe it’s nature’s gentle reminder to pause, breathe, and be present.
Or maybe… it’s just our inner panda asking for winter hibernation.

  1. Totally!! Colder months are meant to be slower, humans are part of nature after all! Be cozy, love!! It’s a part of the human experience to cherish as much as anything else!!

      1. Really, I have to thank you for this. I’m going nowhere fast “productivity” wise, for myriad reasons. But also, being cozy and gentle and restful feels like enough 👏🌟
