From ‘Help, I Can’t Cook!’ to ‘Hey, This Tastes Amazing

What’s your favorite thing to cook?

Cooking has never been my cup of tea—unless you count making actual tea. The kitchen, to me, often feels like a battlefield where I enter with a plan but exit wondering what went wrong. Yet, once in a blue moon, the culinary muse strikes, and I find myself whipping up biryani, pasta, noodles, or soya chilli with surprising success.

But lately, I’ve discovered a magical kitchen gadget: the air fryer. This little box of wonders has turned my hesitant cooking experiments into moments of triumph. From crispy chicken fry to perfectly roasted chana, everything has come out so well that I’ve started feeling (almost) like a pro. As Julia Child once said, “No one is born a great cook, one learns by doing.” Well, in my case, one learns by air-frying!

Gone are the days of oil splatters and standing over a hot stove, second-guessing every step. The air fryer has given me a new perspective—cooking doesn’t always have to be complicated. And the best part? The kids now wait eagerly for my ‘special’ air-fried treats instead of running to their father’s side when it’s cooking time. That’s a win, right?

As I embrace this accidental culinary adventure, I wonder—maybe cooking isn’t about mastering recipes but about finding what works for you. “Life is like cooking. It’s okay if you mess up, just don’t stop experimenting.”

Thought to ponder: If an air fryer can make me enjoy cooking, what else in life am I underestimating?

  1. I really enjoyed your post and the opening simile likening the kitchen to a battlefield really made me laugh! I love a good simile.
My mum has an air fryer and loves it too. As you say, no oil, no grease. It’s a really nifty device and makes great food. Thanks for the post!
