Leisure: A Sweet Dream Where Sleep Always Answers the Call

What do you enjoy doing most in your leisure time?

Ah, leisure time—the mythical unicorn of adulthood. Once upon a time, I would curl up with a book, penning down my thoughts, feeling like a modern-day Jane Austen. But now? Leisure, my dear, has rebranded itself as “naptime.”

Whenever I find a rare pocket of time, the idea of reading or writing gets overshadowed by the sweet siren call of sleep. “Sleep is the best meditation,” said Dalai Lama. And who am I to disagree? After all, even superheroes need a nap sometimes.

But occasionally, I trade my dreams for laughter-filled gossip sessions with friends. It’s like group therapy, only cheaper. “Friendship is born at the moment one person says to another, ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.’” C.S. Lewis surely knew the magic of these heart-to-heart conversations. From discussing world politics to whether Shah Rukh Khan still has his iconic charm (spoiler: he does!), these chats are a balm for my soul.

Yet, there’s a constant tug-of-war: Should I rest, socialize, or rediscover my love for books and writing? And there lies the paradox of leisure—it’s less about doing and more about feeling.

So here’s a thought to ponder: Are we too busy chasing leisure to truly embrace it? Maybe leisure isn’t a checklist but a state of mind—a quiet moment when you feel content, whether you’re napping, laughing, or simply sipping chai while staring at the rain.
