A Decade-Old Love Affair on Two Wheels

Think back on your most memorable road trip.

It was a sunny morning, a decade ago, when my husband and I embarked on our very first road trip together from Bangalore to Tumkur. Armed with nothing but a sturdy bike, a shared sense of adventure, and a playlist of our favorite songs, we set off on a journey that would etch itself in our hearts forever.

The road stretched ahead, inviting and endless, with the cool breeze weaving through our hair. Every mile brought us closer, not just to Tumkur, but to each other. There’s something uniquely magical about road trips. They strip life down to its essence – the road, the company, and the destination.

Tumkur welcomed us with its rich history and serene beauty. We visited the iconic Devarayanadurga, a hill station that offers breathtaking views and a sense of tranquility. The temple of Narasimha Swamy perched atop the hill was a spiritual oasis, its ancient architecture whispering tales of bygone eras.

Our journey continued to Siddara Betta, a haven for adventure seekers. The trek was a delightful challenge, rewarding us with natural caves and medicinal herbs. Tumkur’s Shivagange, with its unique combination of nature and spirituality, was our last stop. The hill, shaped like a Shiva Linga, seemed to smile at our youthful enthusiasm.

Reflecting on that trip, I realize that road trips are more than just journeys; they’re experiences that foster connection, self-discovery, and endless laughter. Even today, the joy of that day lingers, reminding us of the beauty of life’s simple pleasures and the unbreakable bond forged on the road.
