Lost & Found: In Search of Time

Do you need time?

Time is perhaps the most elusive resource. We chase it, stretch it, and wish for more of it, especially as moms juggling work and family life. Every second counts, and yet it slips by. My son recently reminded me of this, in his own endearing way. One day, he came up and announced, “Mom, another mother needs your laptop and monitor; they’re coming to take it!” I was bewildered, asking who this “other mother” was and why she needed my work setup. He looked up, smiling innocently, “I want you to be free and play with us.” His words struck a chord, and I realized: time with loved ones is irreplaceable.

In work, too, time is the ultimate currency. “Time flies, but it’s up to you to be the pilot.” Managing time well sounds simple, but in reality, it’s like trying to tame a whirlwind. With work from home, a “typical” workday can quickly be disrupted by little storms at home—a toy that needs fixing, a project in need of mom’s expert advice, or even a snack emergency! Despite the challenges, every day begins with the resolve to handle time better.

But among all these demands, there’s one person often left waiting: myself. Self-care isn’t selfish; it’s essential. I’ve learned that if I nurture myself, I’m better equipped to nurture others. A bit of “me time”—to read, write, nap, or just breathe—adds a world of balance. As they say, “The best time to take care of yourself is now.”

Time is precious, and we must savor it. “Don’t count the days; make the days count.” After all, who knows what tomorrow brings?

Time: The Infinite Moments Evolving

Time whispers softly, like wings in the air,
Its moments a treasure beyond compare.
Hold close each second, let joy be your guide,
For in love and laughter, true time resides.
