What food would you say is your specialty?
Cooking has never really been my cup of tea. Sure, I can whip up some regular meals to keep everyoneās stomachs full, but when it comes to special dishes, YouTube is my secret weapon. Yet, despite all the online guidance, every time I step into the kitchen, it feels like Iām entering a battlefield. I go completely blank, as though Iāve forgotten everything Iāve ever learned about food.
Now, if the question were about eating, Iād be the queen. My list of favorite dishes is endless! But as for cooking… let me share a funny incident. In my daughterās school, they asked her to name the best dish her mother cooks. After some serious thought, she wrote, āMy mom makes great Gobi Manchurian, kebabs, and poori⦠but my dad cooks all of them better.ā Ouch, right? Even my child recognizes where the true kitchen hero lies.
Another time, a friend called me in a frenzy, saying, āSharon, I soaked rice to make dosa, but I forgot to grind it for more than a day! What can I do now?ā I stood there, completely clueless. Then I laughed and told her, āYouāre asking me? I can help with office work any day, but rice? Iām as lost as you are!ā
So, here’s my truth: Iām more of an eater than a cook, and Iām perfectly fine with that.
In the kitchen, Iām lost, itās true,
No idea what Iām supposed to do!
But give me a plate, oh, what a treat,
Iām an expert when it comes to eat!
