What’s the trait you value most about yourself?
When today’s prompt popped up—“What’s the trait you value most about yourself?”—I froze for a second. My daughter, however, had no such pause. She jumped right in with all the authority of a tiny life coach and declared, “Mamma, you are kind and helpful, but most importantly, you have a positive attitude and a never-give-up mindset.”
Now, when your child hands you a mirror like that, you stop and stare. I had to laugh and think, Well, who needs motivational speakers when I’ve got a pocket-sized one at home?
Positivity is not just my trait—it’s my oxygen. I find myself treating it like my morning coffee; without it, the day doesn’t really start. Life throws curveballs (sometimes feels like a whole cricket match played against me), but I’ve learned to swing at them with a smile.
As I reflect, I realize that resilience and positivity have shaped me. It’s not about denying problems, it’s about telling those problems, “Listen, you may walk into my house, but don’t bother unpacking—I’m not letting you stay long.”
I remember a line I once read: “Attitude is the paintbrush of the mind—it can color any picture dull or bright.” I’ve chosen neon.
My daughter’s words reminded me that the values we live, not the ones we preach, become the values our children carry. And if she sees positivity as my crown jewel, then maybe I’m richer than I thought.

Thought to ponder: What trait do you live so consistently that even a child could name it for you?
