What things give you energy?
People often ask me, “Where do you get all this energy from?” Now, if you’re expecting me to say coffee, green smoothies, or a secret stash of chocolate hidden in the cupboard… you’re wrong (though, let’s be honest, chocolate has saved me a few times).
My first and ultimate source of energy is the Word of God. Nothing else has the power to light up my day like a verse that feels tailor-made for me. As the Bible reminds us: “The joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10). That line alone could put a charging station out of business!
Then comes my positive mindset. I may not have the calmness of a Zen monk, but I do try to laugh at my messy kitchen, my overstuffed schedule, and even my mirror on a bad-hair day. A cheerful heart is like a personal generator. “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones” (Proverbs 17:22). Who needs an energy drink when you can laugh at your own bloopers?
Of course, energy also comes from the little things: children’s giggles, a warm hug, or even just a five-minute “do nothing” break (though mine usually ends up with me planning tomorrow’s to-do list—classic me!).
Life is short, and energy is precious. Why waste it on complaints when you can spend it on gratitude? “Do everything without grumbling or arguing” (Philippians 2:14).
💡 Thought to ponder: Maybe true energy isn’t about what we consume—it’s about what we believe. So the next time your battery feels low, ask yourself: Am I plugged into the right source?
