How do you relax?
If you ask me what relaxation looks like, I won’t point you toward a yoga mat or a five-star resort. I’ll simply pull the blanket over my head and say, “Wake me up when the world has calmed down.” For me, sleep is not just rest—it’s my personal spa, free of charge and open 24/7.
The beauty of sleep is that it never judges. Whether I’ve fought with my kids over missing socks or binge-watched a series longer than my patience, sleep greets me with open arms. As someone once said, “A good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures for anything.” I couldn’t agree more—though sometimes my laugh turns into a snore, which my family insists is less soothing than I claim.
But sleep isn’t my only secret weapon. Talking to my friends is another way I hit the pause button on life. A ten-minute chat often feels like a therapy session where the prescription is laughter, and the side effect is forgetting why I was stressed in the first place. After all, “Friends are those rare people who ask how you are and wait to hear the answer.”
Relaxation, I’ve realized, doesn’t have to be exotic or Instagram-worthy. It can be as simple as shutting your eyes or dialing a familiar number. Life throws enough complications our way; maybe relaxation is just about keeping it simple.
Thought to ponder:
We chase relaxation like it’s hiding in distant mountains or expensive spas, but what if it’s been right under our noses all along—in a nap and a good chat?
