My Life’s Handbook: Scribbled, Spilled & Still Certain

List 10 things you know to be absolutely certain.

There’s so much we question in life — from the mysteries of the universe to the daily dilemma of “What’s for dinner?”
But amid the chaos, the curveballs, and the caffeine-fueled mornings, there are a few things I know with absolute, unshakable certainty. Not because I read them in a book or heard them in a TED talk, but because life taught me — sometimes sweetly, sometimes with a spoonful of sarcasm.

So here they are — ten things I am certain of, stamped with my own life’s laughter, lessons, and leftover lunchbox truths.

1. Coffee tastes better when someone else makes it.
Yes, even if it’s just instant coffee stirred with a spoon of love and a sprinkle of “finally, someone made it for me!”

2. Kids will ask the most profound questions only when you’re in the bathroom.
As I sit there contemplating life and… other things, a little voice always asks, “Mom, what happens after we die?” I’ve answered everything from the digestive system to the soul’s journey with shampoo in my eyes.

3. Laughter is a universal charger.
No matter how drained I am — by work, mess, or toddler tantrums — one unexpected giggle from my child can plug me back into life. Instant 100% battery.

4. Wi-Fi becomes unstable only during serious online meetings.
It’s like the universe whispers, “Too much adulting. Let’s spice it up.” The frozen screen face? I’ve nailed that performance art.

5. A mother’s handbag can rival any magician’s hat.
Need a safety pin? Band-aid? Forgotten chocolate? Expired movie ticket from 2019? It’s all in there. I’m certain it’s a portal to another dimension.

6. Children will draw you as a potato with eyes — and it’ll melt your heart.
I’ve never had such stubby limbs or neon pink hair, but when they say, “It’s you, Amma, see how happy you are?” — well, Picasso who?

7. One sock always vanishes.
I don’t even question it now. Somewhere out there is a secret island of lonely socks, unmatched Tupperware lids, and missing pens.

8. Gratitude is better than therapy — and cheaper.
A heartfelt “thank you,” whispered to the sky or scribbled in a journal, can lighten the heaviest days. I’ve tried it. It works. Every. Single. Time.

9. No user manual? No problem. Moms exist.
From fixing a broken button to mending a broken heart, she knows. She always knows. Her “I told you so” may sting, but it’s laced with unconditional love.

10. The messiest, most unplanned days create the most beautiful memories.
I am certain that perfection is overrated. It’s the flour-covered kitchen, the unplanned dance in the rain, the midnight giggles — that stay with us.

“Certainty is not about having all the answers. It’s about trusting the truth you’ve lived.”

So, here’s a final thought to carry in your pocket:
In a world full of uncertainties, be sure of what makes you smile. That’s the kind of certainty the soul dances to.

And me? I’m certain I’ll forget something important today, spill some tea, laugh too loud, and still be grateful by bedtime. And that, my friend, is a life well-lived. 💫
