What are you most excited about for the future?
The future? Oh, I’m thrilled! But not for any one thing — for everything. For the unknown, the unplanned, the perfectly imperfect curveballs life loves to throw. I’m excited about burnt toast that might accidentally lead to discovering my inner chef (or fire extinguisher skills). I’m thrilled about wrong turns that become scenic routes — both on roads and in decisions.
“Expect the unexpected — and bring snacks.” That’s my motto.
Sometimes, I imagine the future like a big mystery box. It could have glitter, confetti, or…a grumpy cat wearing sunglasses. Who knows? “Surprises are God’s way of saying, ‘You’re not the boss of everything.’” And honestly, I find that oddly comforting.
Maybe I’ll finally finish reading that book I started three years ago… or write one of my own. Maybe I’ll take up Zumba and discover my feet have their own rebellious dance agenda. Perhaps my kids will teach me something I thought I already knew. Spoiler: they already do.
The beauty of being excited about everything is that disappointment doesn’t linger — it just takes a seat while the next unexpected twist pops up. Like popcorn. Life’s own drama, lightly salted.
So, am I excited? Yes. Do I know for what? No. And that’s the best part.
“The best journeys are the ones where you don’t have GPS, just a strong sense of ‘let’s see what happens.’”
Thought to ponder:
What if the thing you’re most excited about hasn’t even crossed your imagination yet?
