What jobs have you had?
Once upon a résumé, I began as a tele-caller. Yes, the “Hello madam, would you like a loan?” kind of person. That job taught me how to handle rejection 57 times before lunch and still smile like I’d just won a lucky draw to the Maldives. As someone wisely said, “If doors keep slamming in your face, build a revolving one.”
From there, I shifted gears—no, not vehicles, careers—and became a lecturer. Standing in front of sleepy-eyed students with curious minds and creative excuses, I discovered that teaching wasn’t just a profession—it was my passion. I loved watching curiosity bloom, loved it even more when they passed their finals. They taught me patience, and how to decode teenage silence, sarcasm, and surprise questions.
Then came the plot twist: I traded the blackboard for a keyboard and joined the corporate galaxy. From processing health claims to leading a team, I discovered the thrill of email wars, the diplomacy of daily stand-ups, and the sacred power of Monday morning coffee. Rising from processor to assistant manager, I learned that Excel sheets may not heal people like stethoscopes, but they can certainly prevent panic attacks during audits.
I’ve worn many hats—and all of them have shaped me. Because in the end, “Life isn’t about finding your path; it’s about paving it—with missed calls, chalk dust, and office memos.”
Thought to ponder:
What if every role you’ve played wasn’t a detour… but a carefully placed tile in the mosaic of your masterpiece?
