Why So Serious? Life’s Too Short to Skip the Laughs

What makes you laugh?

Very good question! In our busy schedules, we often forget how to laugh. Between deadlines, responsibilities, and pretending we like green smoothies, laughter takes a backseat. But let’s be honest—nothing beats a hearty, uncontrollable, face-cramping laugh.

“Laughter is an instant vacation.” – Milton Berle.

Sometimes, a good comedy movie or a witty conversation brings out the chuckles. Other times, it’s the absurdity of everyday life—like when my kids behave in the weirdest ways, turning my living room into a jungle, or confidently answering questions with the logic of a parallel universe. They remind me that humor isn’t always found; sometimes, it finds us.

Life has a funny way of making us laugh when we least expect it. Ever sent a serious work email only to realize autocorrect turned “Regards” into “Reptiles”? Or tried to act all wise in front of your kids, only to trip over a toy? As Oscar Wilde said, “Life is too important to be taken seriously.”

So, what if we treated laughter as a necessity instead of an afterthought? What if, instead of waiting for something funny, we actively looked for humor? After all, “A day without laughter is a day wasted,” as Charlie Chaplin put it.

Here’s a thought: What if laughter was our daily fuel, not just an occasional break? Imagine the joy we’d carry—just by letting go and laughing a little more.
