Between Waves and Wonders—The Dolphin in Me

Which animal would you compare yourself to and why?

If I had to compare myself to an animal, I’d be a dolphin—graceful on the surface, but paddling like crazy underneath. Dolphins are intelligent, social, and playful, yet fiercely protective of their pod. Sounds familiar? That’s motherhood in a nutshell!

Like dolphins, I navigate life’s unpredictable waves, juggling work, family, and the occasional (unplanned) kitchen disaster. “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain”—or in my case, learning to laugh when my perfectly planned schedule crumbles like a soggy biscuit.

Dolphins are known for their strong sense of community, just like how I find joy in uplifting others. A friend once told me, “You have a knack for making people believe in themselves.” I suppose that’s my version of echolocation—helping others find their way, even when I sometimes feel lost myself.

However, let’s not forget the mischievous side. Dolphins are playful tricksters, and I, too, have my moments—like when I pretend to be asleep just to steal a few minutes of peace before my kids launch their morning ambush.

But above all, dolphins never swim alone—they thrive in companionship, just as I do with my family, friends, and the ever-supportive circle of love around me.

A Thought to Ponder: “Dolphins don’t fear the vastness of the ocean because they trust their pod. What if we embraced life the same way—trusting that we are never truly alone?”
