What advice would you give to your teenage self?
Dear Teenage Me,
I know you won’t listen, but hey, let’s pretend for a moment that you will. First things first, give some importance to yourself. That pimple on your nose is not the end of the world, and neither is that embarrassing moment in class. “You are not defined by a bad day, nor are you limited by one good one.”
Next, education. You were a good student, always getting good grades, but don’t let that make you complacent. College is a different ballgame, and falling behind there doesn’t mean you’re not capable. It just means you need to adjust your approach. “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”
Patience, my dear self. I understand the frustration when elders start their lectures with “In our days…” and suddenly history class is happening at the dinner table. But shocker—they do know a thing or two. “Listen to your elders’ advice. Not because they are always right, but because they have more wrongs to learn from.”
And finally, remember to enjoy the little things. The friendships, the school fights, the so-called heartbreaks—they all make great stories later. Life is not a race, but even if it were, you are still on the starting line with untied shoelaces. Fix them.
Thought to ponder: Life has a funny way of proving your parents right about things you once rolled your eyes at. So, roll wisely!
