“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” – and in my case, that step was taken in a pair of Khadim’s shoes.
A few years ago, I stumbled upon the comfiest pair of shoes ever. It was love at first step! They hugged my feet like a long-lost friend, whispering promises of pain-free adventures. From grocery runs to office sprints (because alarms are traitors), these shoes stuck with me, bearing the weight of my ambitions and my sometimes questionable fashion choices.
They walked through puddles of rain and puddles of tears (mostly over onions, sometimes over life). They tiptoed into weddings where I was forced to dance and trudged through meetings where I was forced to stay awake. They even bravely endured the horror of my toddler using them as a chew toy.
Alas, no love story is without tragedy. One day, the soles whispered their final goodbye, leaving me heartbroken on a sidewalk. But as Marilyn Monroe wisely said, “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.” So, the hunt for a new favorite began.
Thought to ponder: Are we walking in shoes that truly fit us, or just ones we’re too afraid to let go of?
