Life’s a Circus, and I’m Having a Blast in the Ring

List five things you do for fun.

Life, as they say, is what happens while you’re busy making plans—or in my case, while my kids are busy turning the house upside down. Between balancing work, kids, and fleeting moments of peace, I’ve discovered a few things that bring joy to my life. Let me take you through my fun list, where simplicity, a pinch of humor, and a dash of wisdom mix together for a fulfilling day.

1. Writing: Joy in the Aftermath

I don’t write for fun—at least, not at first. Writing is like climbing a mountain. Midway, you’re sweating, your legs are giving up, and you start questioning your sanity. But oh, the view from the top! Once my blog or prompt is completed, the immense joy it brings is unparalleled. As Ernest Hemingway said, “There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.” Well, I bleed words, and it feels amazing when they finally make sense.

2. Word Search: My Brain Gym

Some people hit the gym to stay fit; I hit the word search puzzles. Whether I’m playing alone or with my kids, it’s my way of keeping the gray cells sharp. The sheer thrill of finding a tricky word is oddly satisfying. And when I play with my kids, they manage to turn a simple word search into a battlefield of “Who finds it first!” The result? Chaos, laughter, and a good dose of brain exercise. As someone wise once said, “A mind once stretched by a new word never regains its original dimensions.”

3. Binge-Watching: The Rare Luxury

On those rare days when time bends in my favor, I indulge in binge-watching series. It’s like opening a bag of chips—impossible to stop until you hit the bottom. From thrillers to comedies, I dive in with a bowl of snacks (and no guilt). This “me time” is essential, even if it means a battle with my kids over screen time. After all, they need to learn priorities, right? (Just kidding… sort of.)

4. Playing with My Kids: My Daily Dose of Chaos

Imagine a mini-tornado, a whirlwind, and a circus all rolled into one. That’s what playing with my kids feels like. Whether it’s board games, hide-and-seek, or random pillow fights, the house becomes a war zone of giggles and mischief. But amidst the mess and noise, there’s something so pure and rejuvenating about it. As they say, “While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.” My kids teach me to find joy in the smallest moments, even when I’m pulling my hair out.

5. Chit-Chat with Friends: Therapy for the Soul

If there’s one thing that soothes my soul, it’s those long, nonsensical, soul-lifting conversations with my friends. Whether it’s about life, kids, or who made the worst cooking disaster, our talks are a cocktail of laughter, venting, and wisdom. It’s true what they say: “Good friends are like stars. You don’t always see them, but you know they’re always there.” These chats remind me that I’m not alone in this chaos called life, and laughter really is the best medicine.

A Thought to Ponder

In the hustle and bustle of life, finding time for fun may seem like a luxury, but it’s essential. Fun doesn’t always mean grand adventures or extravagant outings. Sometimes, it’s in the joy of completing a task, the thrill of a word search, or the sound of your kids’ laughter echoing through the house. And most importantly, it’s in the company of friends who make you laugh until your stomach hurts.

So, here’s to finding fun in the little things and remembering: “Life is too important to be taken seriously.” Now, go find your fun—one word search, series binge, or heartwarming conversation at a time!
