Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?
In the hustle of daily life, it’s tempting to dwell on the past or dream endlessly about the future. Yet, the real magic happens in the present. While I do reflect on the past—those moments are like old friends, offering lessons both good and bad—I try not to linger too long. After all, “The past is a place of reference, not residence.”
The future, on the other hand, is a canvas waiting to be painted. I think about it not with worry, but with curiosity. How can I make it better? What seeds can I plant today for a fruitful tomorrow? “The best way to predict the future is to create it,” Abraham Lincoln once said, and it’s a mantra I hold dear.
But what about the present? Ah, the present is where life truly unfolds. It’s the only time we have to laugh, to love, to live. “Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment,” reminds Buddha.
A Thought to Ponder: What if we treated every present moment as a gift, truly embracing it without the shadows of the past or the fog of the future?
In this moment, pure and bright,
Past’s lessons, future’s light,
Here I stand, no fear, no flight,
Living now, in heart’s delight.
Each day is a page in the book of life—make it worth reading.
