What are your two favorite things to wear?
When it comes to fashion, my closet is like a Bollywood movie—full of drama, a touch of comedy, and the occasional identity crisis. On one side, there’s the sharp, no-nonsense vibe of jeans and shirts; on the other, the flowing, timeless elegance of sarees.
My all-time favourite: Jeans and Shirts—the unofficial uniform of the 21st-century multitasking woman. They’re quick, comfy, and forgiving, especially after indulging in one too many samosas. Sliding into my favorite pair of denim feels like a personal pep talk: “You’ve got this, girl. Now go tackle that to-do list—or at least look like you’re trying.”
Jeans are like that dependable best friend—always versatile, never judging, and forever ready for an adventure. Whether I’m running errands or chasing after my kids, my jeans are there to say, “You can handle this, even if the kids can’t handle themselves!”
As Yves Saint Laurent wisely put it, “Fashion fades, style is eternal.” And jeans? They’re practically immortal. From classic blue denim to the trendy distressed look, they’ve been my loyal companions through workdays, grocery runs, and even those rare movie dates with my husband.
But jeans aren’t just about comfort—they’re a symbol of equality, breaking barriers with every thread.
And then, there’s the saree—a six-yard masterpiece that turns every woman into royalty. Draping one is like assembling IKEA furniture: complicated, frustrating, and oddly satisfying once you get it right. Wearing a saree feels like having a conversation with history—whispers of generations, the rhythm of tradition, and the artistry of culture woven into every pleat.
When I step out in a saree, I feel like I’ve walked straight out of a Yash Chopra movie. Sure, pleats can test my patience (and occasionally my sanity), but there’s something magical about how a saree transforms you. Suddenly, you’re not just a person; you’re a celebration. It’s as if the universe whispers, “You’re graceful, you’re gorgeous, and yes, you’re probably late for the event—but look fabulous while you’re at it!”
As Coco Chanel said, “A woman should be two things: classy and fabulous.” And what’s classier or more fabulous than a saree? Be it a family wedding or a festive office party, a saree is a reminder that tradition never goes out of style.
As someone wise (definitely not me) once said, “Fashion is about expressing who you are—even if who you are depends on your mood and your laundry schedule.”
So here’s to jeans that make me feel unstoppable and sarees that make me feel unforgettable. And here’s to a world where we can rock both without apology—because whether we’re running the show or simply showing up, we deserve to feel fabulous doing it.
Or as I like to say: “Saree today, jeans tomorrow—but always slaying, no matter what.”
A Thought to Ponder: Isn’t life a lot like my wardrobe? A mix of moments where we want to sprint ahead in jeans and moments where we need to slow down, take a deep breath, and drape ourselves in tradition. Maybe the real beauty lies not in choosing one but in embracing both—with a dash of humor and a pinch of style.
